Description : 

The ANZSNM is the major and one of the oldest professional societies for those practicing in the field of Nuclear Medicine in Australia and New Zealand.

The ANZSNM has been specified by the Minister of Immigration and Citizenship, in accordance with the Migration Regulations 1994, as the assessing authority for the occupation Nuclear Medicine Technologist (ASCO Code 2391-15).

Criteria : 

If you intend to migrate to Australia, you should first contact your nearest Australian Embassy, Consulate or High Commission, for information about migration processes and requirements for assessment of your qualifications.  If you intend to migrate in a General Skilled Migration category, information relevant to you is available from the Department of Home Affairs on their website.  It is essential that you read the information on the website carefully before proceeding with your skills and qualifications assessment.

 

To migrate to Australia under the general skilled migration categories, you or your spouse must satisfy certain basic requirements before applying to migrate. One of the basic requirements is to nominate an occupation from the Skilled Occupations List which fits your skills and qualifications, and have your skills and qualifications assessed by the relevant assessing authority.   If your nominated occupation is "Nuclear Medicine Technologist" the ANZSNM is the relevant assessing authority and you should use the form on this site to apply for an assessment of your skills and qualifications to determine if they are suitable for progressing to the qualification examination.

 

Please note that, under migration law, if your qualifications were gained in Australia and you wish to apply for a visa under the General Skilled Migration program, you will also need to apply for an assessment. Even if your Nuclear Medicine Technology qualifications are suitable for migration to Australia you will be required to meet additional requirements of the ANZSNM before you are eligible for full registration as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. 

 

Visa requirements

To work as a medical radiation practitioner (diagnostic radiographer, radiation therapist or nuclear medicine technologist) in Australia, you need to:

• apply for and be registered with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia (the Board)
• you may also need to apply for a visa issued by the Australian Department of Home Affairs (Immigration and Citizenship).

These two application processes are entirely separate and success in one does not automatically guarantee success in the other.

In order to apply to be assessed as ELIGIBLE to undertake the ANZSNM accreditation examination in Nuclear Medicine Technology, you will need to complete the form on this website. It is not an application to sit this examination: this will be sent to you if you are assessed as eligible.

The ANZSNM assesses your eligibility by checking that you have the required qualifications to practice as a nuclear medicine technologist in your own country and that you are of good professional standing. The assessment is conducted by the ANZSNM for overseas trained nuclear medicine technologists who wish to practice their profession in Australia. Assessment of eligibility to undertake the accreditation examination is the first step in the process which includes:

• English language test (if applicable)
• Accreditation examination (written)
• Professional Development Programme (clinical)

The information on the application form is collected by the TSIG of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (ANZSNM) Incorporated for the purpose of assessing qualifications in Nuclear Medicine Technology for recognition in Australia. All personal information will be handled confidentially. Details may be verified with or provided to other agencies where necessary or required by law.

Fees:

The fee must be in Australian dollars made payable to the ANZSNM and be in the form of a bank
cheque drawn by a foreign bank with clearance arrangements with an Australian bank, a foreign
draft on an Australian bank, a money order issued by Australia Post, a bank cheque drawn by an
Australian bank, or a personal cheque drawn on an Australian bank account. Visa and Mastercard
cards also accepted.

Assessment of eligibility to undertake the OQA examination $550 (document assessment)
OQA examination (each attempt): $1,450
Letter of suitability for migration for those who have completed an Accreditation Board approved Australian course (needed to extend a visa): $50

For applicants residing in Australia, GST of 10% is applicable
