The Institute of Managers and Leaders is the approved professional assessing authority for persons seeking to apply for Skilled Migration as Senior Managers, within the Australian and New Zealand Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) codes listed below. For migration to Australia, there are established criteria for the level of qualifications, training, and work experience required for a senior-level manager.
PLEASE NOTE: A revised assessment criteria across all occupations will come into effect on 23 March 2021. From this date all applicants will need to meet the revised assessment criteria.

In addition to providing assessment of senior management skills for the purpose of migration to Australia, the Institute assesses qualifications for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).
Assessment Criteria:
The Institute of Managers and Leaders is contracted as an assessing authority by the Australian Government to assess senior-level management skills, for the purpose of skilled migration to Australia.
Assessment criteria are based on the level of work experience, training and qualifications achieved.
As part of the assessment you will be required to refer to IML’s Management Competency Framework.

Guidelines for Migration Skills Assessment
- Read the Assessment Criteria for senior-level managers for the purpose of skilled migration to Australia for the above positions. If you believe you meet these criteria, please proceed to the next step.
- Complete an Application for Migration Skills Assessment ensuring you provide all the required personal details and supporting documentation. Take time to fully complete the form, as incomplete applications cannot be processed. You can save your form and return to it at a later point in time if you wish to do so. A non-refundable application fee is required to be paid upon submission.
- Submit your supporting documents. A link for a secure upload will be emailed to you once you have completed your online application and paid your fee. You can save your upload and return to it at a later point in time if you wish to do so. Once your upload is complete, please click the ‘FINISH’ button which will forward your combined application and documents to the Institute of Managers and Leaders.
Documents must be a clear, high quality (300dpi or higher) colour scan taken from the original document and do not need to be certified by a justice of the peace or notary public. File types that we accept are: jpeg, bmp, gif, png, pdf, tif.
Please note IML is under no obligation to seek further information from applicants. Please make sure all required documents are submitted for assessment purposes as decisions are based on the evidence provided with your application.

Guidelines for 485 Visa Assessment
The Institute of Managers and Leaders is authorised by the Department of Home Affairs to assess the following qualification as a provisional assessment for the purposes of meeting the requirements for the Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) Visa for Engineering Manager [133211].
Assessment criteria
Applicants for the Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) Visa must have a qualification which is highly relevant to the nominated occupation for assessment. The major area of study must be in the same field as the nominated occupation. The major area of study is determined by the number of units completed in the related field (this is generally 25% for a 4-year Bachelor degree course or 33% for a 3-year Bachelor degree course). Additionally, the application’s qualifications must meet the required education level for the nominated occupation as per the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Migration agents
If you are using a migration agent to help with your Migration Skills Assessment, please use IML’s Migration Agent Authorisation Form to inform IML about the appointment of a migration agent in relation to your application. Please ensure that you sign the form and attach it to your lodgement as supporting documentation.

Effective from 1 June 2016, the Institute of Managers and Leaders charges the following fees for Migration Skills Assessments. Fees are non-refundable and payable at the time of lodgement.
